Marie Northrop Lecture Series for 2020 - Eye of the Beholder

“Some of these buildings are over twenty years old” – Steve Martin in “L.A. Story”

The view of Los Angeles from many places may seem like the above quote from 1991 – constantly changing our appearance with little regard for the past of our city. Of course, never can be further from the truth.

The theme of the 28th Marie Northrop Lecture Series is “Eye of the Beholder.” Several major actors in the history of Los Angeles will be featured: a world-famous building, a world-class hub of commerce, and a structure currently in the middle of a debate on the future face of the city.
